Sophie Avison - Multi-instrumentalist, accordionist, live-loop artist
Sophie is a diverse and talented performer with a number of instruments in her arsenal, and the ability to craft a show tailored to the specific vision of the client.
Accordion:
Often seen performing with her squeezebox around the local music scene, Sophie is an eclectic performer with a diverse repertoire ranging from world folk, original songs, to popular singalongs. Whether its upbeat covers that have everyone singing along (you probably haven't seen Delilah on the accordion before, and you definitely should!) or relaxed folk and instrumental music, her setlist can be tailored to the event to create the perfect atmosphere.
Saxophone / Piano:
With a background in classical music, Sophie is a trained pianist and saxophonist with strong improvisational abilities and will happily provide a set of instrumental piano, or saxophone with or without backing tracks.
Live-looping:
The really fun part! Sophie uses a loop pedal to layer various combinations of: piano, accordion, saxophone, wind synth, guitar, and vocals to build songs live - a solo act with the sound of a full band or even an orchestra. Often using complex melodic and vocal layers, and an in-depth understanding of a range of genres, she will take you on a journey of sounds ranging from jazz, folk, classical, pop / rock, to totally improvised on-the-spot creations. If you're looking for elements of crowd interaction too, she likes to get the audience involved in building a song by picking numbers out of a hat and explaining her process. A truly unique and creative act the likes of which you may not have seen before
