1. Purpose of CCTV Use
Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) is in operation at The Bubble to:
• Ensure the safety and security of all visitors, staff, and performers.
• Prevent and detect crime, antisocial behaviour, and unauthorised access.
• Support the welfare of all users, including young people and vulnerable individuals.
• Monitor and uphold the venue’s standards and policies (including safeguarding obligations

CCTV cameras may operate in:
• Public areas of the venue (e.g. entrance, main space, corridors, bar, smoking area)
• Shared creative spaces and studios
• Outside the premises (for general security)
CCTV is not used in private spaces such as toilets or changing areas.
3. Safeguarding Statement
The Bubble is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment, especially for young people and vulnerable adults.
CCTV monitoring forms part of our wider safeguarding and welfare procedures, ensuring that all activities within the venue are accountable, supervised, and compliant with our internal conduct policies.
4. Legal Basis and Data Protection
• CCTV is used in accordance with the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice.
• CCTV footage is classified as personal data and will be handled securely.
• The legal basis for processing CCTV footage is legitimate interest, specifically relating to security, safety, and safeguarding.
5. Storage and Access
• Footage is stored securely and retained for a maximum of 30 days, unless required for investigation.
• Access to footage is restricted to authorised personnel only.
• Footage may be shared with police or safeguarding authorities when legally required.
6. Your Rights
• You have the right to request access to CCTV footage of yourself, subject to identification and exemptions (e.g. if others appear in the footage).
